Ever feel like a piece of clothing finds you? 🌿 I had my own sisterhood of the traveling pants moment. We were perusing a shop in Ballard when my husband saw it first. I was 6 months pregnant and when I saw the patch with my maiden name, I knew I had to buy it because I’ve never stumbled upon a personalized item like this before. Thurber is not a common name! I assumed there was no way it was going to actually fit me, but I’d buy it anyway as a novelty item. As a plus size person, I just assume everything in a cool vintage store is going to be miniature.
But it did fit! It didn’t button up all the way but I didn’t care. I beamed out of the store high on a weird adrenaline rush (this must be why people love thrifting and antiquing.) I got home and hung it away in my closet where it’s been hiding for the last two years while I chased around babies. Today she makes her debut. We’ll talk about my 17 year old FHS track shirt later 🙊
